The service is available as a desktop app and as a web app. The desktop app lets you run AI models on your own machine, keeping your data private and in your control even when you're offline. The app automatically configures your GPU for the best performance and supports machines with Nvidia, AMD, Intel and Apple graphics processing units.

The Backyard Cloud model gives you access to fast and powerful AI models, with new ones added each month. Data is encrypted at rest, and there's no logging or sharing, so your data is private. The cloud models can be accessed from anywhere and can process up to 50 tokens per second and 10,000 tokens of context. You can also tether your desktop app to mobile devices, giving you access to all the features from a web browser.

Backyard AI supports more than 100 language models, including Midnight-Rose 70B and Psyonic-Cetacean 20B. The service offers a free tier with access to popular language models, as well as paid plans starting at $7/month for unlimited messages on curated models and $35/month for premium features and bigger model memory.
